The lathe tool is controlled by the cross slide
(which moves the tool across workpiece) and the
compound slide (which moves the tool either
parallel or at an angle to the workpiece)

Jacobs Chuck
Revolving Centre
The Tailstock can be used to hold a Jacobs Chuck
for drilling or a Revolving Centre to support
long pieces of work

The Roughing tool is used for parallel turning,
The Right Hand Knife is used for Facing The
Parting tool is used for Parting Off
6The Centre Drill
The Centre Drill is fitted into the Jacobs Chuck
and used to create a countersink hole in the end
of the bar when turning between centres. It is
also used to produce a pilot hole in the end of a
bar prior to drilling.
