    in width.
  • Her gross tonnage was 46,328 tons.
  • Three propellers were used to power the Titanic
    forward.
  • Steam was provided by Scotch-type boilers fired
by 159 coal burning furnaces that gave her a
theoretical top speed of 23 knots.
  • 1 knot equals roughly 1.8 Km/h, thus giving the
    Titanic a speed of roughly 42 Km/h.

    Bukater.
  • What director James Cameron failed to realize
that there was an actual Jack Dawson on the
    Titanic.

16
Jack Dawson
  • The infamous J. Dawson grave that people adopted
as Jack from James Cameron's Titanic movie. Many
flowers, stuffed toys, hearts and movie tickets
were placed on his grave every day during the
release of the movie and for many years after.

Titanics Finals Resting Place
  • 1600 kilometers east of Boston, Massachusetts,
and 600 kilometers southeast of St. John's,
    Newfoundland.
  • Depth 12,500 feet.

18
Why it Sank?
  • The iceberg
  • Travelling full speed upon the time of impact
  • Captain threw the engines in reverse which swung
the Titanic sideways, thus allowing the iceberg
to rub the sides of the ship
  • Rivets which held the ship together became
brittle in cold water (contained sulphur)
  • Not enough lifeboats
  • No help after firing flares
