Project Description
  • The project is basically a Cost Estimation tool
    which provides the customer interface available
    on the companys webpage.
  • The main aim of this project is to develop a
    prototype which will successfully demonstrate the
    potential of a E -commerce solution for the Cost
    Estimation for Electricity Supply.

Project Deliverables
  • A spatial network display map depending on the
    address provided by the customer.
  • A web-tool which has the functionality to edit
    the concerned map like zooming, selecting
    multiple points.
  • Details of the necessary accessories required
    with unit costs are displayed.

Business Rules
  • Customer should be a registered user.
  • For every 200mts there should be a pole.
  • Each pole costs 1000AUD.
  • Last pole costs 9000AUD.
  • A new pole at every corner.
  • 10 percentage GST included in total cost.

  • Java Applets
  • Java applets can run in a web browser using a
    Java virtual machine (JVM), or in Sun's Applet
    Viewer, a stand alone tool to test applets.
  • Applets are used to provide interactive features
    to web applications that cannot be provided by
    HTML.

  • Environment Net Beans 4.0
  • A Java-based development environment (IDE) and
    platform independent originally developed by Sun.
  • It includes user interface functions, source code
    editor, GUI editor, version control as well as
    support for distributed applications (CORBA, RMI,
    etc.) and Web applications (JSPs, servlets,
    etc.).

Design Supply Request Form
  • The User fills a supply proposal request form
    (initially).
  • In his application, he provides the details of
    the property.
  • Depending on his details, we display a map of his
    region with nearest power outlets.

    displayed.
  • The sample power line to the specified location
    is shown.
  • The nearest distance between the power outlet and
    the customers address is calculated.

Project Objectives
  • Depending on the distance, the cost for equipment
    like electric wires, poles and manpower is
    calculated.
  • Any other fees or deposit details are added to
    the total and all the details are displayed to
    the customer.
  • Even we will give a option for more detailed
    estimation but at the cost of extra time and
    budget.
