- Few occupations or workplaces do not make use of
Information and Communication Technology today
and most are likely to change further as ICT
becomes more pervasive. - The old saying Time is Money has been replaced
by Information is Money. Growth in the various
information and communication industries will
continue, giving many opportunities directly and
indirectly to your generation. - With A Level ICT you will benefit from better
understanding of how information can be gathered,
stored, controlled, communicated and manipulated
by the use of Technology.
3No need to have done GCSE ICT, but it helps if.
- There is no specific requirement for prior
learning, although many students will have
already gained a knowledge and understanding of
ICT through a variety of GCSE studies. - However, it would benefit you if you are
competent in higher skills within - Word-processing Mail Merge, fields, paste
special, hyperlink, bookmarks, tables. - Spreadsheets if then else, pivot tables,
vlookup, embedded formulas, validation rules. - Databases preset validation checks, input
masks, reports, complex queries, relational
databases. - Web skills hotspots, dynamic HTML, bookmarks,
adapting themes, animation. - Macros can you write them in any software?
4What is the difference between ICT and Computing?
- The practical element of the ICT course involves
the use of application software such as
spreadsheets and databases whereas Computing
involves the use of programming languages such as
Visual Basic and Prolog. - ICT theory covers the applications of ICT and its
effect on society. Computing theory covers the
way computers and programs work. - ICT provides more of a users perspective to
technology, whilst Computing is approached from a
developers perspective.

- The ability to apply skills, knowledge and
