Final Thoughts

FAQ
  • How do I maintain a school/NSBE balance?
  • Never become so engulfed in NSBE that it becomes
your life. Remember, youre in school to be a
student first. This doesnt mean give up it
means to delegate those tasks youre unable to
    finish alone.
  • How do I effectively manage a zone?
  • Be approachable and understanding to your zone
members. However, be firm in deliverables
because the work must be done.
  • I have a great idea, but I dont know how to
approach it. Who can I contact?
  • Your first point of contact should be your zone
leader (your chapter president in most cases) to
make sure the idea is in accordance to chapter
    plans. Subsequently, contact your Regional
    counterpart (Secretary) for advice and/or
    information.

25
Regional Secretarys Advice for a Successful Year
  • Understand the event that youre publicizing for
    effective coverage
  • Start early!
  • Be proactive with information
  • Dont get bogged down if you need help, ask!
  • Embrace your board/zone members they are vital
    to your functionality

26
Inspirational Quotes
  • Leadership is a privilege to better the lives of
others. It is not an opportunity to satisfy
    personal greed. Mwai Kibaki
  • It is better to lead from behind and to put
others in front, especially when you celebrate
victory when nice things occur. You take the
front line when there is danger. Then people
will appreciate your leadership. Nelson Mandela

27
A Favorite Leadership Poem
  • Dont Quit (excerpt)
  • When things go wrong as they sometimes will, when
the road youre trudging seems all uphill
  • When funds are low and debts are high, and you
want to smile, but you have to sigh
  • When care is pressing down a bit, rest if you
    must, but DONT QUIT
  • Success is failure turned inside out, the silver
tint in the clouds of doubt
  • And you never can tell how close you are, it may
be near when it seems so far
  • So stick to the fight when youre hardest hit,
its when things seems worst that you MUST NOT
    QUIT!
