Title: Taking Ministry to the Next Level

1
Taking Ministry to the Next Level
  • Evaluating Ministry

2
Evaluating Ministries
  • The 301 team has been given the responsibility
    for evaluating ministries
  • We as a team believe that ministries should
    evaluate themselves.
  • The purpose of this presentation is to help
    ministries begin that process.

3
Evaluation Begins with a Yardstick by which to
measure
4
3 Possible Yardsticks to Use
  • The spiritual climate of our team meetings
  • The leadership task to develop people to do the
    task effectively
  • The community task accomplishing tasks together

5
Do a Self-Evaluation
6
Spiritual Climate
  • We pray before the meeting starts.
  • I feel like we genuinely invite the Lord to our
    meetings.
  • The members of my team are aware that the Holy
Spirit is present in our meetings.
  • My team members and I believe that what we are
doing is part of the very work of God and that He
has asked us to do this task.

7
Spiritual Climate
  • We stop pray during the meetings if the task
just seems too big or if conflict or disagreement
    is present.
  • We have occasional devotionals or Bible verses to
encourage us, teach us and help us with our task.

8
Spiritual Climate
  • We see God at work in our tasks.
  • We celebrate together over Gods answers to
    prayers about our task.
  • We pray to close our meetings.

9
Leadership Climate
  • My group has a shared vision about our task.
  • We set yearly goals for our team.
  • My team knows our calendar and budget for the
    year.
  • We set aside time during the year for training of
some kind that will help us do our job better.

10
Leadership Climate
  • I know the gifts, abilities and experiences of
    the people on our team.
  • Everyone is contributing their gifts, abilities
    and experiences to our task.

11
Leadership Climate
  • We are effectively accomplishing the task we have
    been given.
  • We are adding new people to our team
  • I am working to develop each person on the team.

12
Leadership Climate
  • I am developing new leaders.
  • I delegate effectively.

13
Community Climate
  • I am doing too much of the work myself.
  • I tend to make the decisions and then ask the
    group to ok them.
  • I am open to new ideas and approaches.

14
Community Climate
  • I try to include other peoples ideas and help
them get implemented as well as my own.
  • We have a large group that is broken down into
smaller groups so that informal mentoring and
    care can happen

15
Community Climate
  • Our group knows each others spiritual stories.
  • New people are added, welcomed, trained and
    assimilated
  • We celebrate the tasks we have accomplished
    together
  • We encourage each other.

16
Resistance to Change
  • Almost all of us feel resistance to change when
    it is first suggested. Why?
  • True or false If we do nothing, we can keep
    change from happening.

17
Take an Attitude Check
  • Ive been running this ministry for a long time
and I dont need anyone else to tell me how to do
    it.
  • We dont have enough time to get done what we
need to get done as it is, without adding all
    this extra stuff.
  • Doesnt matter we dont have enough money for
    our ministry as it is.

18
Take an Attitude Check
  • I cant even get them to come to the meetings
much less get them involved in the work.
  • Ive asked for people and no one is interested in
    being on the team.

19
Take an Attitude Check
  • I didnt know I had to do all this when I signed
    up.
  • Im just not a leader.
