High-Stakes Experiment
Free Confidential Report How You Behave When You
Lie
I am a PhD researcher looking for academics based
at London Universities who have lied on a
high-stakes topic (e.g extra-marital affair,
research published), of which evidence can be
provided, who would be willing to attend an
interview forcing them to lie when asked
questions indirectly related to this topic in
front of a video camera. The scope of the study
is to test the subjects response on questions
aiming to stress the subjects emotionally. I
would like to use the video data collected during
the experiment and your knowledge of which
answers are deceptive and which answers are
truthful, to train a computer system to detect
lies.

• What will happen if subject takes part?
• A one hour interview session
• Agreement in writing that
• - Subject is willing to help the experimenter
  prepare interview on a high-stakes topic subject
  lied on
• - Subject is willing to answer questions related
  to the high-stakes topic, and to lie to conceal
  the true facts, in front of a videocamera.
• Talking to subjects aquantainces in order to
  gain knowledge of the true facts helpful but not
  essential.

VERY IMPORTANT AS A PHD RESEARCHER, I WILL NOT
BE ABLE TO SHOW YOUR DATA (OR REVEAL THE GROUND
TRUTH) TO ANY PARTY OR PARTICIPANT WITHOUT YOUR
WRITTEN CONSENT. PROVIDED THAT I GET YOUR WRITTEN
CONSENT, I WILL NOT PUBLISH THE DATA ITSELF BUT
ONLY THE ANONYMOUS RESULTS OF THE ANALYSIS OF THE
DATA.. THIS WAY, THE DATA WILL REMAIN STICTLY
CONFIDENTIAL. A DIGITAL COPY OF THE FILMED
INTERVIEW WILL BE KEPT ON A COMPUTER FOR STUDY
PURPOSES ONLY
