I have been delighted to have been able to work
in partnership with Dame Pauline and her team to
replace the legacy system that the FSA inherited
from the Registry of Friendly Societies with a
modern up-to-date system. This is the result of a
lot of co-operation between the FSA and
Co-operatives UK and represents an important step
in our efforts to improve the service we offer
our mutual customers. Furthermore, this has
enabled us to offer, for the first time, an
electronic public register of all mutual
societies, which will be available on the
internet via the FSA's website. Philip
Robinson Director, Regulatory Transactions, FSA

24Quote from our Chair
- Co-operativesUK is a small organisation with a
small staff team. It does not seek to supplant,
but to supplement the activity of its members. It
does not speak for individual member
organisations, but for the co-operative
community. It works through partnership, advocacy
and facilitation to drive innovation, new
projects and service development. It works
primarily through and with the co-operative
family.
25Developing and extending the co-operative sector
