Dear Friends and Supporters,
In February of 2007, we completed our facility
relocation moving less than a mile from our
former 14,000 sq/ft location in Southwest
Baltimore to our new site built by Merritt
Properties. The 27,000 sq/ft location affords
us the opportunity to have enhanced on-site
processing and Lab/Operating Room facilities.
The new location contains a donor family memorial
wall, donor family memorial garden The Donor
Legacy Garden, and plans for an organizational
archive to chronicle the history of our
organization and its part in the history of organ
and tissue donation in Maryland and across the
nation. The creation of LifeLogics, an
Information Technology solution for the OPO
community was also completed in 2006. A
consortium of OPOs formed a Board of Directors
that guide the practice of this wholly owned
subsidiary of The LLF. LifeLogics has a vision of
being the OPO IT solution for the entire OPO
community, building upon our operational
understanding of the OPO business model, the
LifeLogics group is designing a solution that
goes beyond the organ and tissue donation
process, addressing the business needs of the
OPO, Tissue Bank, and Transplant Center. Donate
Life Maryland (DLM) was also established in 2006,
a collaborative project lead by The Washington
Regional Transplant Consortium, The Medical Eye
Bank of Maryland, and The Living Legacy
Foundation of Maryland. DLM has a mission of
merging the statewide organ donation registry
managed by the Motor Vehicles Administration of
Maryland with the efforts of this new
organization to provide education and outreach to
our community on the importance and need for
organ, tissue, and eye donation. It was an
exciting year for The LLF, and we are honored to
have been a part of the life-saving mission of
our organization and to have supported our donor
hospital and transplant center partners in
achieving our mutual mission of saving and
enhancing the lives of our community. Charles

It is truly an honor to be able to convey to our
fellow Marylanders the outcome of our efforts
for 2006. As the program that facilitates organ
and tissue transplants for our region, we measure
ourselves on our ability to provide life-saving
organs and tissues for transplantation while
supporting and honoring those patients and
families that have chosen to give. In 2006 more
families chose organ donation than any year in
our history, and this resulted in our
organization facilitating over 430 local organ
transplants. To offer context for this success,
this compares to less than 200 local organ
transplants as recently as 2003. We are humbled
by our ability to achieve these gains, and more
humbled in knowing that these successes are not
possible without the gracious act of giving of
our donor families. Increasing organ and tissue
donation in our region was not the only
accomplishment worthy of our mention for this
year. The Transplant Resource Center of Maryland
has gone through a re-branding process aimed at
making a more clear statement of the mission of
our organization. The Living Legacy Foundation
of Maryland (The LLF) name was unveiled in
February of 2007, after months of careful
planning and research. Looking within the
mission of the organization it became immediately
evident to our team that we offer families an
opportunity of a living legacy on behalf of their
family member through the gift of organ and
tissue donation. We adopted this element of our
mission as our new name, and proceeded with this
initiative in conjunction with our facility
relocation.
