What is Wind Power?
Wind Power is a way of generating electricity
using a natural energy source, the wind.
The blades on the turbine turn in the wind, the
kinetic energy generated powers a generator which
generate electricity.

Wind Power in the UK
Wind Power is being used in the UK. The North
Hoyle Offshore Wind Farm produces enough energy
to power 50,000 homes per year.
The Ford plant in London has two wind turbines
providing the energy to run the car manufacturing
plant.

Advantages of Wind Power
Wind Power is a form of renewable energy. It will
not run out.
The amount of energy used to make a turbine will
be paid back in 3-5 months by the turbine and the
turbine will last 20-25 years.
It is a clean, safe cheap source of energy

Disadvantages of Wind Power
Wind Power is Noisy
Turbines are not very visually appealing to some
people
There is not always enough wind

Should We Use Wind Power?
Wind Power is a good form of energy to use,
however it will never take over as the primary
source of energy. However, it should definitely
be put to good use, as it can help ease the
strain on finite resources such as fossil fuels.
