An object oriented very low bit-rate video
coding scheme

Overview Face segmentation is performed for
every frame in a head and shoulder video
sequence. For each key frame, facial node points
are selected and a content-based mesh is
constructed for the face object. The facial node
points are tracked and used to animate the face
object between key frames.
Introduction Conventional video coding schemes
generate visually annoying block artifacts at
VLBR. As facial cues aid interpersonal
communication, it is desirable to code faces
without block artifacts in the VLBR
video-conferencing application. We propose a
mesh based video coding scheme to eliminate block
artifacts within faces and improve compression.
