3MECIBS Central objectives
- To foster balanced spatial development by
sustaining the development of medium sized
cities. - Within this objective the project aims at
- understanding urban restructuring based on
comparative and concrete examples - forming recommendations for the interplay between
local and national strategies based upon a bottom
up process, and - within an integrated perspective on economic,
environmental and social development - forming a network of medium sized cities to
facilitate exchange of experiences and mutual
learning.
4MECIBS Methodological approach

- The project will be carried out jointly by city
representatives and experts - Six conferences will be arranged on different
locations in the BSR facilitating in-situ
comparisons - Case studies of cities will be carried out
focusing on lessons of cities in crises, lessons
of cities success fully restructured and lessons
of established networks between cities
5MECIBS Dissemination

- General accessible and updated information on the
project - Internet site managed by the lead partner
- Easy and focused information for those
interested - brief city reports
- focused thematic reports
- Events to be exposed to wider public and target
groups - The main events are the 6 conferences
- Press releases to be distributed back home of all
the cities - Copies will be send to regional and national
governments - Targeted policy information
- Final recommendations of the project to be
distributed to relevant political bodies, i.e.
national governments, BSR co-operation and EU.
