What Is the Strategic Planning Committee (SPC)?

• A standing committee of University Council
• Duties
• Advise and consult with President and faculty in
  establishment, monitoring and revision of the
  Strategic Plan of the University.
• Advise and consult with the President and faculty
  regarding degree to which the budget conforms
  with goals and objectives of plan.
• Forward recommendations to UC concerning the
  Strategic Plan.

• Seven Faculty members Full or Associate
  Elected by University Council
• One Staff member
• Appointed by Staff Council Exec Comm.
• One Student
• Member UC,

• SGA President

How is SPC involved in 5-year plans?

• 2003 Participated in development of planning
  process, suggesting measures and guidelines
• Phase I Reviewed submitted plans and provided
  feedback which was forwarded to units (Fall 2004)
• Recommended Best Practices

• Observations by SPC about the most effective
  plans.
• Based on a collective review of plans submitted
  and reviewed in Phase I by SPC.

  coherent plans.
• OVERALL, DOES THE UNIT PROVIDE SPECIFIC,
  CONSISTENT, AND MEASURABLE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN
  ITS VISION, GOALS, OBJECTIVES, RESOURCES, AND
  PRIORITIES?
