Title: Linear Measurement Techniques
1Linear Measurement Techniques
2The Almighty Ruler
3Margin for ERROR!!!
This gap between the edge of the ruler and the
line for zero is called a margin. You need to
account for it when measuring using a ruler.
4Flush with edge but
Lined up at the edge of Ruler. This seems
correct however, this will make you measurements
inaccurate.
5In line with Zero.
This one is lined up with the zero. That is
correct!!
6This is why it matters!!
19.4 cm when lined at edge.
7This is why it matters!!
19.7 cm when lined up correctly
8Whats Wrong??
Something is not quite right here???
9Straight line for a correct measurement
A straight meter stick gives us an accurate
measurement
10What to do
- Make sure you are lined up straight (parallel and
perpendicular) - Get down/up to eye level.
- Take an exact measurement.
11Not Eye-Level
Can you read this accurately?? I dont think so!!
12Eye- Level
Ahhh!!!! Thats much better.
13Tape-Measurer ???
For measuring things without straight sides
14Remember
- Use a straight measuring device.
- Get to eye-level.
- Make an accurate measure.
- I will be watching!!
