the evidence of things not seen. Heb 111 - Without faith it is impossible to please Him,
for he who comes to God must believe that He is,
and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently

- Faith Greek pistis, meaning assurance,
belief, fidelity, faithfulness (the character of
one who can be relied on) - Faith a confidence engendered by knowledge
faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word
of God. Rom 1017
4What is Faith?
- Substance Greek hupostasis, meaning
confidence, substructure or foundation,
steadfastness of mind, firmness, courage,
resolution, firm trust, assurance. - An attitude of mind which is convinced of the
Truth and which provides a firm foundation for
hope.
"No other foundation can anyone lay than that
which is laid, which is Jesus Christ"

- Evidence Greek elegchos meaning that by which
a thing is proved or tested. - Faith in that which is to come has its evidence
in the Word which is profitable for doctrine,
for reproof (elegchos for proof Diaglott,
conviction YLT ) ..for instruction in
righteousness 2Tim 316

- Little faith Greek oligopistos meaning to be
incredulous, lacking confidence. - One root word means puny, small, brief (in
extent/duration) The other root word means
persuasion, reliance, belief. - Little faith implies being little persuaded,
lacking in reliance.

- Lesson It is easy to express faith when life is
easy. Testing proves the value and depth of faith
plus our understanding. - The disciples asked "Lord increase our faith".
The reply? - "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed ,
you can say to this mulberry tree - be uprooted
and planted in the sea, and it will obey you"

- Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by
prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let
your requests be made known to God and the peace
of God, which surpasses all understanding, will
guard your hearts and minds through Christ
Jesus. Phil 46-7 - Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the
elders of the church, and let them pray over him,
anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord..
