Title: Perseverance of the Saints
1(No Transcript)
2Perseverance of the Saints
3Perseverance of the Saints
- Which might perhaps be more accurately described
as perseverance of Gods Spirit, is the
affirmation that once God has chosen, regenerated
and adopted a sinner into his family, there is no
power strong enough to extract that saint from
his care. - (Presbyterians, Their History and Beliefs, Walter
Lingle, p.36)
4Perseverance of the Saints
- All the sins he may commit from idolatry to
murder will not make his soul in any more danger.
The way a man lives has nothing whatever to do
with the salvation of his soul. - (Sam Morris, minister for First Baptist Church)
5Perseverance of the Saints
- John 1027-30
- 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and
they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life,
and they shall never perish neither shall anyone
snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who
has given them to Me, is greater than all and no
one is able to snatch them out of My Father's
hand.
6Can Someone Who Has Faith Stop Believing?
- 1 Timothy 41
- Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter
times some will depart from the faith, giving
heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of
demons,
7Can Someone Who Has Faith Stop Believing?
- 2 Timothy 218
- who have strayed concerning the truth, saying
that the resurrection is already past and they
overthrow the faith of some.
8Can Someone Who Has Faith Stop Believing?
- Hebrews 312
- Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an
evil heart of unbelief in departing from the
living God
9Can Someone Who Has Faith So Sin As To Fall From
Grace?
- Luke 813
- But the ones on the rock are those who, when they
hear, receive the word with joy and these have
no root, who believe for a while and in time of
temptation fall away.
10Can Someone Who Has Faith So Sin As To Fall From
Grace?
- Galatians 54
- You have become estranged from Christ, you who
attempt to be justified by law you have fallen
from grace.
11Can Someone Who Has Faith So Sin As To Fall From
Grace?
- Hebrews 64-6
- 4 For it is impossible for those who were once
enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift,
and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5
and have tasted the good word of God and the
powers of the age to come, 6 if they fall away,
to renew them again to repentance, since they
crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and
put Him to an open shame.
12Can Someone Who Has Faith So Sin As To Be
Condemned To Hell?
- 2 Peter 220-21
- 20 For if, after they have escaped the pollutions
of the world through the knowledge of the Lord
and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled
in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for
them than the beginning.
13Can Someone Who Has Faith So Sin As To Be
Condemned To Hell?
- 2 Peter 220-21
- 21 For it would have been better for them not to
have known the way of righteousness, than having
known it, to turn from the holy commandment
delivered to them.
14Can Someone Who Has Faith So Sin As To Be
Condemned To Hell?
- James 519-20
- Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the
truth, and someone turns him back, 20 let him
know that he who turns a sinner from the error of
his way will save a soul from death and cover a
multitude of sins.
15Can Someone Who Has Faith So Sin As To Be
Condemned To Hell?
- Ezekiel 1824
- 24 "But when a righteous man turns away from his
righteousness and commits iniquity, and does
according to all the abominations that the wicked
man does, shall he live? All the righteousness
which he has done shall not be remembered
because of the unfaithfulness of which he is
guilty and the sin which he has committed,
because of them he shall die.
