The Concept Map

• This assignment is NOT optional.
• If you want to use the concept map during the
  exam you must have it done by Wednesday 12/12/07.
• No credit will be given for Concept Maps turned
  in after the exam date.
• I strongly suggest that you complete the concept
  map well before the due date.

The Essay

• Of all of the properties (atomic radii,
  ionization energy, electron affinity,
  electronegativity, and ionic radii) that display
  trends on the Periodic Table, which is the most
  fundamental?  That is to say, which physical
  property can be used to explain most of the other
  properties that have trends on the Periodic
  Table?  Take your time and think about this
  question before you begin to write.  Your answer
  should be a well-developed essaythat means you
  need to write with a purpose.  Account for each
  of the properties listed above in your answer. 
  Also, you should use at least one picture to help
  in your explanation
• Use the rubric while you are completing the
  assignment.
• Use Microsoft Word to write the essay.
• Do Not Use Times New Roman Font.
• Use 12-point font and 1.5 space the paragraphs.
• Use Standard English.
• Do multiple drafts.
• First completed draft due Monday 12/10/07.

• The format will be similar to other exams this
  year.
• The date will be Wednesday 12/12/07.

• We are going to work through an activity that
  recreates the development of the periodic table.
• You must focus on the activity and be actively
  involved in the thinking.
