Forgiveness
  • What is forgiveness?
  • Forgiveness is not
  • Just ignoring those who wrong us.
  • More than a refusal to respond in tooth for tooth
    fashion.
  • Not ignoring the sin.
  • Is not putting on probation.

3
Forgiveness
  • We can look to God!
  • Acts 319 (NKJV)19 Repent therefore and be
converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so
that times of refreshing may come from the
    presence of the Lord,
  • Hebrews 812 (NKJV)12 For I will be merciful to
their unrighteousness, and their sins and their
lawless deeds I will remember no more.

4
Forgiveness
  • We can look to God!
  • Luke 1520-24 (NKJV)20 And he arose and came to
his father. But when he was still a great way
off, his father saw him and had compassion, and
ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. 21 And
the son said to him, Father, I have sinned
against heaven and in your sight, and am no
longer worthy to be called your son. 22 But the
father said to his servants, Bring out the best
robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his
hand and sandals on his feet. 23 And bring the
fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and
be merry 24 for this my son was dead and is
alive again he was lost and is found. And they
    began to be merry.

5
Forgiveness

    him, and they wept.

  • Moses Numbers 121-13

6
Forgiveness
  • Have I really forgiven my offender
  • Do I secretly rejoice in misfortune?
  • Purposefully avoid presence?
  • Speak hesitatingly or under duress?
  • Vividly remember wrong committed?
  • Sit and brood over the wrong?
  • Would I pray on behalf?
  • Do a favor?

7
