3Key Terms
- Early Decision (Only 1 School) These offers are
binding. - If your first choice has Early Decision, then you
may want to use this option. - This is not for someone who is unsure.
- Early Action/ Early Action Single Choice
- Regular admission, but happens early.
- Regular Admission
- Decision in the spring or earlier.
- Rolling Admission
- Applications are reviewed as they are received.
An admissions decision is made once the committee
has reviewed all of the materials.

- Complete a Parent Brag Sheet
- Obtain college applications and financial aid
applications (if needed) - Even if you apply online, you may want to print
out a hard copy - Consider the Common Application if the student is
applying to 3 or more schools that accept it - Two Counselor Recommendation Input forms
- Formal Teacher Letters of Recommendation only

- Make sure that all forms are downloaded
- Give teachers necessary forms to fill out
- Each individual school may be different stay
organized - Even if using the Common Application make sure
all supplements are completed - Secondary School Report
- Counselors will be using the NACAC form for all
college applications

12The Application Process
- On-line vs. Hard Copy
- Completed applications should come to Ms. Beneway
in guidance with the following - Resume, Essay, Payment, Teacher Recommendations,
Brag Sheet, Supplemental Forms - Make sure colleges have been picked in Naviance
- Senior Transcript Request Form for each
application. - Provide a large manila envelope addressed to each
college, with at least three stamps, using
Brookfield High School as a return address.
13Important Deadlines
Give the counselor at least 10 school days for
processing before a deadline. Please pay
attention to those that fall around holidays.
Counselors cannot accommodate last minute
applications.
