2There's a mystery person on your opponent's card.
Can you find that matching face in the crowd?
Start with a gameboard full of funny-looking
suspects. Then ask the right questions to
eliminate the wrong faces! Once you're down to a
face or two...solve the case by guessing who!
Does your person have a big nose? No. Is your
person wearing a hat? Yes. Now you can flip down
all the faces without hats! Guess your opponent's
mystery person before your opponent guesses yours

3Guess Who? Is a fantastic way for children ages 6
and up to learn a great lesson about truth
tables. Imagine if young children created a
truth table from the questions they asked. It
would probably look something like this

4Notice the player has eliminated it to 3 possible
faces using this truth table.

5This game is also teaming with universal
statements. Players must create these to
logically reason which face to guess. A
universal statement for this game may very well
appear in the form F all faces on the
board f the correct faceG(f) face
wears glassesW(f) face is a womansH(f)
face is wearing a hatB(f) face has bald ? f ?
F G(f) W(f) H(f) B(f)

6Finally, Guess Who? is a great example to create
functions. While many are not one-to-one or onto
they can be very helpful. An arrow diagram may
look like

7Guess Who? is a great real world example of the
use of logic. It is usually considered to be in
the logic/puzzle category of board games which is
a good indication that this game involves a good
amount of logical deduction. As I have shown, it
makes use of truth tables, universal statements
and functions. The game Guess Who? is a good way
to introduce logic and proofs to children or to
students.
