Who Were The Experiments Performed On

• These holocaust experiments were mostly performed
  on the stronger men and women. They did a lot of
  experiments on Jewish twins and pregnant women.

Freezing/ Hypothermia

• This experiment was conducted on men to simulate
  the conditions that the German armies suffered on
  the Eastern Fronts
• Two main methods used were to put the person in
  an icy vat of water or to put the victim outside
  naked in sub-zero temperatures
• The icy vat method was the fastest way to drop
  body temperature. A insulated probe which
  measured the drop in body temperature was
  inserted in the rectum. The probe was held in
  pace by an expandable metal ring.

A Story Of A Freezing Experiment

• Two Russian men were seen by a prisoner doctor in
  the cold vat. They were very strong men and had
  said a comment to the SS doctor performing the
  experiment. The prisoner doctor was shocked at
  how long the Russian men could take the cold
  without loosing consciousness. He asked the
  directing doctor to take them out of the tank. He
  did not allow this and increased the temperature
  slightly to prolong their pain. They died after a
  long painful stay in the tank.

Genetics Experiments

• Genetic experiments were performed to prove that
  the Nazi's( blonde hair, blue eyes) were the
  superior race.
• Basically through these studys they came to the
  conclusion that gypsies had a different blood and
  were more inclined to criminal behavior. All of
  theses experiments were performed in gruesome
  ways and with out anesthesia.
• . After the victims were unloaded off the trains
  and stripped naked and divided into men, women,
  and children, he would sort through the thousands
  of people. The twins, dwarfs, and unique physical
  specimens were selected to be assigned to the
  experimental blocks. They were used more for the
  genetic experiments. In many ways the majority
  who where killed in the gas chambers were much
  better off than the survivors that had no idea
  what horrors awaited them.

The Pregnant Mothers

• In December 1942, Professor Carl Clauberg came to
  the deathcamp Auschwitz and started his medical
  experimental activities. He injected chemical
  substances into wombs during his experiments.
  Thousands of Jewish and Gypsy women were
  subjected to this treatment. They were sterilized
  by the injections, producing horrible pain,
  inflamed ovaries, bursting spasms in the stomach,
  and bleeding. The injections seriously damaged
  the ovaries of the victims, which were then
  removed and sent to Berlin.

Experiments On Children

• Two Gypsy children were sewn together to create
  Siamese twins. The hands of the children became
  badly infected where the veins had been resected.
  Often chemicals were injected into the eyes of
  children in an attempt to change their eye color.

Comment From One Of The Holocaust Twins

• One twin recalls the death of his brother"Dr.
  Mengele had always been more interested in Tibi.
  I am not sure why - perhaps because he was the
  older twin. Mengele made several operations on
  Tibi. One surgery on his spine left my brother
  paralyzed. He could not walk anymore. Then they
  took out his sexual organs. After the fourth
  operation, I did not see Tibi anymore. I cannot
  tell you how I felt. It is impossible to put into
  words how I felt. They had taken away my father,
  my mother, my two older brothers - and now, my
  twin ..."
