• When Eveningstar learns how to swim this
  foreshadows that this will come in handy some
  time and it does because when she is thrown in
  the Well of Sacrifice she knows how to swim so
  she does not die.

  to swim a little, something few at home could

• Symbolism means to the representation of

• Eveningstar and her family place cornmeal and
  jade to help her aunt in the underworld.

• We all helped dig the graves, but Mother
  prepared the bodies by herself, placing cornmeal
  and jade bead in each mouth so they would have
  food and money in the afterlife, then wrapping
  the bodies in cotton shrouds and sprinkling them
  with red cinnamon ore.

• I enjoyed the book it was very interesting. I
  thought that it was a little dull in the
  beginning and I thought oh no! not another boring
  English book, but it turned out to be a good book
  that I very much enjoyed.

• I would recommend this book and even if you dont
  like the beginning keep reading very good book.
  I would like to read more of Chris Ebochs books.
