REFLECTIONS BY ANITA REDDY
In 1978 I walked into the slums of Bangalore,
India, seeking an opportunity to serve the
downtrodden. Living conditions were horrific,
exploitation and oppression were rampant, and the
poor had no spaces to live in dignity and work
with security. The resolve to join their struggle
for a society that is just, equal and humane got
etched within me.

Each passing day in the slum communities helped
strengthen the resolve within the resolve to
struggle alongside with them for their rights.
Each day with the poor brought a new
understanding of life itself, and an inner drive
to strive for change.
