Title: PARTS OF THE SUN
1PARTS OF THE SUN
2Our Sun Four Main Layers
- the corona
- the chromosphere
- the photosphere
- the core
3Corona
- The corona is the outer most layer of our sun.
- Most scientist believe that it is about 1,700,000
degrees Celsius in temperature. - The corona is the bright halo that is still
visible to us during a total eclipse. - Scientist wait eagerly for solar eclipse to
gather more information about our suns corona.
4Chromosphere
- Moving inward from the Corona, the next layer of
the sun is the Chromosphere. - The Chromosphere is the layer that appears as a
red disk when the sun is photographed. - The Chromosphere is 27,800 degrees celcius.
5Photosphere
- The Photosphere is the third layer of the sun as
you move inward from the Chromosphere. - This layer is 6000 degrees Celcius.
6Core
- The Core is the inner most layer of the sun.
- It is about 15,000,000 degrees celcius.
- The Core is presently the site of most of the
nuclear fusion that is producing energy on our
sun.
7- From studying our sun and exploring its various
layers, astronomers can better understand the
other stars in our universe.
