Business Support Team (BST)

What is BST?

• BST is a back office section within EADs
  Accounting and Control unit
• BSTs role is to provide support to the Business
  of EAD
• Operations and Customer Support teams in EAD are
  internal customers of BST

BST what do we do?(1)

• BST contributes to the high standard of Financial
  Management Accounting in EAD by
• ensuring EAD applications comply with business
  requirements
• providing business expertise on estate accounting
• providing best practice guidance on EAD
  applications.

BST what do we do?(2)

• BST improves service delivery by developing EADs
  applications. This includes
• raising system enhancement requests
• liaising with internal external suppliers of
  upgrades and system support
• user assurance testing
• user training

BST what do we do?(3)

• Run 6 monthly Interest Bearing despatch
  interest notifications
• Action Interest Bearing instructions
• Provide BANCS Online support
• Complete housekeeping maintenance of EAD
  applications
• Post balances handed back from IPs (on case
  closure) to ORs

BST what have we done?(1)

• October 2006 to March 2007-
• Despatched 20,955 six monthly interest notices
  (100 within 10 day target)
• Actioned 6,271 interest bearing instructions
  (100 within 2 day target)
• Responded to 1,488 requests for support -
  internal EAD customers BANCS Online (96 dealt
  with within 3 working days)

BST what have we done?(2)

• Updated BANCS ( LOLA) to comply with new Fees
  Amendment Orders that came into effect on 01st
  April 2007
• 17 enhancements to BANCS
• 15 for internal EAD use (to effect improved
  service delivery or operational efficiency)
• 2 for external users new Cheque Status Enquiry
  function improved expired cheques report (for
  tracing agents)

BST work in progress?

• 13 BANCS enhancements are in progress,
  including-
• Submit large volumes of dividend requests
  electronically upload directly into BANCS
• Show interest as separate gross and tax
• Interest notices downloaded from BANCS Online
• Add column to statements to show running total
  funds on interest bearing
