Title: Agenda

1
Agenda
  • Introduction
  • IT Objectives
  • Proposed IT Test Scenarios
  • IT Tests
  • Other S/C Test Opportunities for EGS
  • Compatibility Tests
  • On-Going activities
  • Conclusion

2
Introduction
  • IT team provides independent verification of
    ground system readiness.
  • IT team creates mission unique test plan to
    verify documented system requirements.
  • Test Plan comprised of comprehensive set of
element level test requirements and organized
    into Integrated Tests.
  • The Integrated Testing approach is used to
    systematically verify ground system interfaces
and functionality. Each test is a building block
    for later tests.

3
IT Objectives
  • Verify EGS can support all mission requirements
    as
  • documented in ICESAT requirements documentation.
  • Verify EGS readiness to support spacecraft
    compatibility tests.
  • Verify site to site connectivity
    (BASD/GSFC/EPGN).
  • Document anomalies and monitor resolution.

4
Proposed IT Test Scenarios
  • Scheduling Test
  • S-Band Command Telemetry Data Flow
  • X-Band Science Data Flow
  • Ground System End-to-End
  • Launch Site Test

5
IT 1 Scheduling Test
  • Purpose Exercise Scheduling Interfaces within
    the ICESAT Ground System
  • Participants MOC, WOTIS, EDOS, EPGN, EBNET
  • Description MOC generates test schedules
  • Schedules sent to EDOS
  • Schedules sent to EPGN via WOTIS
  • MOC generates IIRVs
  • IIRVs sent to EPGN via WOTIS

6
IT 2 S-Band Command Telemetry Data Flow
  • Purpose Exercise S-Band Command Telemetry
interfaces within the ICESAT ground system
  • Participants MOC, WOTIS, EPGN, EDOS, EBNET
  • Description Test scheduled by MOC through WOTIS
  • MOC generates commands
  • Commands sent to and validated by EPGN
  • Taped data flows from EPGN to MOC
  • (via EDOS TBD)

7
IT 3 X-Band Science Data Flow
  • Purpose Exercise X-Band science data flow
interfaces within the ICESAT ground system
  • Participants MOC, WOTIS, EPGN, EDOS, DAAC,
    EBNET
  • Description Test scheduled by MOC through
    WOTIS
  • Taped Science data flows from EPGN to EDOS
  • EDOS processes data and flows to DAAC

8
IT 4 Ground System ETE
  • Purpose Exercise complete ICESAT ground
    system in an integrated fashion
  • Participants MOC, WOTIS, EPGN, EDOS, DAAC,
    EBNET
  • Description Integration of IT 1, 2 and 3

9
IT 5 Launch Site Test
  • Purpose Final ground system checkout and launch
    site interface test
  • Participants MOC, WOTIS, EPGN. EDOS, EBNET,
    VAFB
  • Description TBD

10
Other S/C TestOpportunities for EGS
  • These are tests planned by ICESAT. These tests
may present additional opportunities for EOC/EGS
to piggyback on planned ICESAT test activities
    and interface with spacecraft.
  • S/C Functional Test (FT)
  • S/C Acceptance Test (AT)
  • Instrument Verification Tests
  • Thermal Vac/EMI
  • Other Environmental Tests
  • Performance Tests
  • Long Duration Performance (100 Hour Test)

11
Spacecraft - Ground SystemCompatibility Tests
(GSCTs)
  • Test Name Date
  • GSCT 1 L-18 Months
  • GSCT 2 L-12 Months
  • GSCT 3 L-7 Months
  • GSCT 4 L-5 Months
  • GSCT 5 L-4 Months
  • GSCT 6 L-1.5 Months
  • Description
  • S/C - G/S Basic TLM and CMD
  • RF TLM and CMD (CTV)
  • Instrument Operations
  • End to End dry run
  • End to End (Pre-ship)
  • Launch Site Testing

12
On-Going Activities
  • Need to work with ICESAT Project Team to
integrate S/C schedules with G/S IT schedules.
  • Need to set up ICESAT/Mission Systems Test
Planning Working Group (TPWG) to provide forum to
    refine tests.
  • Need to Identify/Develop Test Requirements
    Database.

13
Conclusion
  • Ground System Integration Testing provides
    benefits by
  • Mitigating risk
  • Ensures highest level of compatibility both
    functionally and operationally between Spacecraft
    and ground support systems.
  • Provides independent evaluation of ground system.
  • Reports directly to management.
