• Welcome to 3Bs Personal Hygiene Lesson !
• Today, we will learn about maintaining good,
  personal hygiene or keeping clean.
• We will learn about what will happen if we do not
  maintain good personal hygiene.

• At the end of this lesson, for each hygiene area
  you will be able to list 2 reasons why it is
  important for everyone to maintain good, personal
  hygiene.
• You will also be able to correctly identify and
  label statements as good or bad hygiene habits.
• This lesson will help you design your hygiene
  poster.

Dental Hygiene

• Brush your teeth at least 3 times a day.
• Use a soft toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste.

Consequences for not brushing your teeth !

• Cavities will develop from tooth decay.
• Your teeth will turn yellow.
• Your breath will be offensive or smell bad!

Keeping your body clean !

• Take a bath or shower at least once a day.
• Use soap, water, a wash cloth and towel.
• You must remove all clothing before you bathe or
  shower.

• Wash your entire body, all spaces from head to
  toe.
• If your parents have decided you need it, put on
  deodorant.

Consequences of not keeping your body clean !

• Your skin will be dirty.
• You will smell badly.
• People will not want be near you.
• You could get skin diseases like ringworm or
  impetigo.

Keep your hands clean !

• Wash your hands after using the bathroom.
• Use soap and water.
• Wash your palms and backsides of your hands.
• Clean under your fingernails.
• Wash your hands after sneezing.

• You will be spreading germs to yourself and to
  others.
• Your hands will look dirty.
• Your skin may contract contagious diseases like
  ringworm or impetigo.

Vocabulary

• Cavities- Spots of decay on the teeth.
• Contagious- A condition that can be spread from
  one person to another.
• Ringworm- A fungus that will grow on the skin. It
  forms into a red, raised circle.
• Impetigo- A contagious skin infection that causes
  crusts to form on the skin.
