DESCRIPTION

• This work shall comprise the supply and
  installation of steel H-section piles, inclusive
  of pitching and driving, lengthening and
  preparation of pile heads, all in accordance with
  this Specification and to the details shown on
  the drawings

MATERIAL

• B.S. 449 ? regard to sectional dimensions
• B.S. 4360 ? steel shall comply with the
  requirement.

Handling and Storage

• A manner that damage to piles and their coating
  is minimized (handling and transporting)
• Damage ? replaced by the contractor.
• Pile within a stack shall be in groups of the
  same length and on approved support.

Welding

• All welds shall be full penetration butt welds
  complying with the requirement of B.S. 5153

Marking of Piles

• Each pile shall be clearly marked with white
  undeletable marking showing its reference number
  and overall length.
• In addition, each pile shall be marked at
  interval of 0.5 meter along its length before
  being driven.
