- Subject Area The lobby space in the Adam Joseph
Lewis Building, with a focus on the wall facing
south. - Objective To discover the principles associated
with clear and tinted glazing and their suitable
applications.

- Hypothesis 1 When comparing the graphs of
light levels at varying distances from the the
two types of glazing, the slope of the hyperbola
for the tinted glazing increases at a greater
rate. - Hypothesis 2 When comparing the graphs of
surface floor temperature at varying distances
from the two types of glazing, the slope of the
hyperbola for the clear glazing increases at a
greater rate.

- Modified Hypothesis After taking initial
measurements, it was determined that measurements
for temperature would graph into parabolas
instead of hyperbolas

- Method By creating a grid at specific
increments from the two types of glazing, the
data measured was plotted and results were found.
- Each measurement was taken at intervals of 4-0
from the glazing in the sunlight.

- Conclusion 1 Upon conclusion of data
collection, it was found that the illuminance
levels dropped more dramatically with distance
from the clear glazing. The tinted glazing
sustained a more consistent level of illuminance. - Conclusion 2 Upon conclusion of data
collection, it was found that the surface
temperature readings dropped more dramatically
with distance from the clear glazing. The tinted
glazing sustained a more consistent level of
surface temperatures.
