Key Concepts

Username/Password is for Non-MIT community only.
MIT community will use X.509 certificates
To request a username/password for non-MIT
people, TA or faculty should contact
stellar-help_at_mit.edu. They should fill in the
form at http//stellar.mit.edu/contact/userrequest
.html, indicating the MIT sponsor and the class
the non-MIT person will be attending.

Key Concepts

When the Stellar Administrators provide the user
with their username/password, they also tell the
sponsoring TA/faculty to add the person to the
appropriate access for the class.
After that is complete, the person should be able
to use
Windows NS 4.7 or 6.2.3 IE 5.5
Macintosh OS 9 NS 4.7 or 6.2.3 or OS X NS 6.2.3

Go to the Stellar Home page
Go to the Departmental Listing
Go to the class
Accept the Stellar Site Certificate
Do NOT provide personal certificates (if you have
any)
Stellar will require you to change your password

Some Problems You May Encounter

Incorrect Password make sure you use the correct
password. Beware of "Caps Lock"!
Incorrect Username use the correct username. Be
sure to include "_at_org.type" (e.g.,
"fas.harvard.edu" or "bu.edu")
Permission Denied this indicates that the TA or
faculty have not added you to the class access
list. Contact the TA or faculty.

Don't Panic. While the Stellar administrators
cannot tell you what it is (we don't keep track,
only you and the system know it), we can reset it
to a new password.
Contact stellar-help_at_mit.edu with your Stellar
account name (the email name you use to login).
