JesusOur Heavenly High Priest! Hebrews
51-5
2
Hebrews 51-5
Every high priest is selected from among men and
is appointed to represent them in matters related
to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins.
2He is able to deal gently with those who are
ignorant and are going astray, since he himself
is subject to weakness.
3
3This is why he has to offer sacrifices for his
own sins, as well as for the sins of the people.
4No one takes this honor upon himself he must be
called by God, just as Aaron was. 5So Christ
also did not take upon himself the glory of
becoming a high priest. But God said to him, "You
are my Son today I have become
your Father.

superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is
mediator is superior to the old one, and it is
    founded on better promises."

  • 1 Timothy 25

between God and men, the man Christ Jesus."

"Then Aaron must slaughter the first goat as a
sin offering for the people and carry its blood
behind the inner curtain. There he will sprinkle
the goats blood over the atonement cover and in
front of it, just as he did with the bulls
blood.
14
16Through this process, he will purify the Most
Holy Place, and he will do the same for the
entire Tabernacle, because of the defiling sin
and rebellion of the Israelites. NLT
15
  • 4. Priests were to have a pastoral heart toward
    people

Hebrews 52 He is able to deal gently with those
who are ignorant and are going astray, since he
himself is subject to weakness.
16
  • Numbers 1527-29

he shall offer a one year old female goat for a
sin offering, 28And the priest shall make
atonement before the Lord for the person who goes
astray when he sins unintentionally, making
atonement for him that he may be
    forgiven.

17
  • 29You shall have one law for him who does
anything unintentionally, for him who is native
among the sons of Israel and for the alien who
    sojourns among them." NAS

18
Numbers 1530-31
  • "But the person who does anything defiantly,
whether he is native or an alien, that one is
blaspheming the Lord and that person shall be

commandment, that person shall be completely cut
off his guilt shall be upon
    him."
