- AAS-SW Exec Board members provided with e-mail
accounts for use as national-level officers - Two methods of use
- E-mail client best of those who use one computer
regularly, keeps server disk space usage low - Webmail best for those who dont have routine
access to one computer, stores all e-mail on the
server - Following slides provide examples of setup and
use for both options

- Access webmail at one of these addresses
- http//mailboxes.arnold-air.org/ (for AAS
accounts) - http//mailboxes.silver-wings.org/ (for SW
accounts) - Will be prompted for login name and password by
your web browser - Login Enter the first part of your e-mail
address, such as president for
president_at_silver-wings.org - Password Enter the e-mail password you were
issued - Enter a new password in the Change Password
section - E-mail jason.jackson_at_arnold-air.org if you have
password problems

Click here to change your password. You should do
this IMMEDIATELY after getting your new AAS-SW
account.

- Access webmail at one of these addresses
- http//mailboxes.arnold-air.org/ (for AAS
accounts) - http//mailboxes.silver-wings.org/ (for SW
accounts) - Will be prompted for login name and password by
your web browser - Login Enter the first part of your e-mail
address, such as president for
president_at_silver-wings.org - Password Enter the e-mail password you were
issued - Choose an option under Check Your E-mail
- Recommend using Secure for best security
- Webmail client (SquirrelMail) has built-in online
help - Choose the Options link to setup your account
(name, webmail preferences, etc.) - E-mail jason.jackson_at_arnold-air.org if you have
problems

Choose one of these options to log in to webmail.
You can also go directly to one of the addresses
listed--youll be asked for your e-mail address
and password.

- You can use any e-mail client that supports POP3
or IMAP and SMTP - Outlook Express is available on nearly all
Windows-based PCs, and will be our example - Other e-mail clients are similaryou can use the
info on these slides to help out if you use a
different program - Using your own e-mail client is best if you own
the PC youre using - DONT use this in lab situationsuse webmail
for security! - Using a client helps save space on the server
12Starting Outlook Express Setup
Click here to view your summary screen.
Click here to start the Mail account wizard. If
you dont have this option, select Accounts
from the Tools menu and then select the Add
button and Mail.
13Step 1 Setting Up Internet Mail
Select this option to setup your mail account.
Click here to go to the next step.
14Step 2 Your Name
Enter your full name here, with AAS rank if you
desire.
Click here to go to the next step.
15Step 3 Internet E-Mail Address
Enter your full AAS-SW e-mail address.

16Step 4 E-mail Server Names
Chose POP3 (to always download mail and delete
from server) or IMAP (to leave messages on
server).
Enter the mail server shown in the webmail setup
area (mail.arnold-air.org or mail.silver-wings.o
rg).

NOTE Certain ISPs and schools block SMTP servers
that they dont run. If sending mail doesnt
work, try using the SMTP server that your ISP or
school provides.
17Step 5 Internet Mail Logon
Enter the mail server username from webmail
setup here.
Enter your AAS-SW e-mail password here. Make sure
you changed the default password!
Check this box if you own the computer youre
using.
Dont check this box.
Click here to go to the next step.

Click here to go to the next step.
19Step 7 Successful Setup
Your mail should download successfully and will
be listed here.
Select Accounts from the Tools menu.
20Step 8 Internet Accounts
Select the mail.arnold-air.org entry.
Click the Properties button.

Enter your AAS-SW duty title or organization here.
Enter your full AAS-SW e-mail address here.
Click Servers to go to the next step.

NOTE If you used your ISP- or school-provided
SMTP server in Step 4, you can skip this step.
Check this box.
Click Settings to go to the next step.
23Step 11 Outgoing Mail Settings
NOTE If you used your ISP- or school-provided
SMTP server in Step 4, you can skip this step.
Click this radio button.
Enter your mail server login again here.
Enter your AAS-SW e-mail password here. Make sure
you changed the default password!
Click OK to go to the next step.
24Step 12 Finishing Up
Click OK to finish up. You may want to send
yourself a test message!

- Inbox Housekeeping
- System can automatically put old messages into a
separate folder if you use webmail or IMAP - Keeps the server running more quickly
- DONT USE if downloading mail to your own
computer with POP3 - Set your preferences via webmail setup area

- Auto-Responders
- You can set up auto-responders for your e-mail
- Similar to Out Of Office in Microsoft Outlook
- Use for vacation notices, Im cramming for
finals week, etc. - Create your responder via webmail setup
- Can set a start date and stop date for the
responder - See next slide for screenshot
