LETTER WRITTEN IN THE YEAR 2070

It is the year 2070.I have just turned 50...And
I feel great!

• I have never had an operation since I was a very
  young boy. The health system is fantastic, and
  we are provided with more than enough water to
  survive. There are plenty of people older than
  me in my community, and the average life
  expectancy is 100, or more.

• I remember when I was a young boy, everyone was
  concerned and worried about the lack of water,
  and where our world would be in the future.
• But now, thanks to many people raising awareness
  and money, taking action, and being determined to
  make a difference, our world is a better place
  than we ever imagined.

• We are still careful about our water, so it can
  be plentiful and clean for generations to come.
• Our skin and hair are clean and free of dirt and
  dust, because we can wash regularly.
• There are still restrictions, and we listen and
  pay attention to them, because we now know the
  dangers.

• There were many warning signs about the water
  crisis around when I was young, and luckily we
  listened, and tried to help in any way possible.
  Now, even in the driest countries, there are
  flowers and trees blooming like never before.
• The water is all fit to drink, however we use
  recycled water for toilets, gardens and washing
  clothes. We are only permitted to wash large
  items with recycled water. This is the way it
  should have always been.

• Employment is at a peak and everyone I know has a
  job.
• We have built many new dams and water catchments,
  to make the most of the rain. We also have
  rainwater tanks in every household and workplace,
  which is something the government provides.
  These tanks can fill up in less than a day, due
  to the high rainfall.
• We have reduced the releases of gases and carbon
  dioxide in an effort to eliminate global warming
  and the destruction of the ozone layer. This has
  been very successful.

• The sewerage is cleaner and well-maintained.
  These are far away from any communities, to
  prevent the stench and diseases from carrying to
  people.
• We wear normal clothing and eat fresh food that
  does not make us sick or catch diseases.
• Oxygen is plentiful, due to the fact that logging
  of rainforests and trees became illegal, without
  sufficient reason.
• People once thought that there was no solution to
  this problem, but we proved them wrong.

• Few children are born before their expectancy,
  with deformation or with disease, because of the
  good health of their parents.

• Water is treasured, but rivers and nature is
  free for everyone to view and enjoy. The water
  is so clean in the rivers, that if people wanted
  to, they could drink it.

• I tell my children about how everyone was
  worried, back when I was young, that water would
  run out and our ozone layer would be destroyed
  forever.
• They ask,
• So why are we alive and healthy now?

• I tell them,
• We listened to the warnings and took action.

• Our generation were the ones who saved our world
  for the future. We were the ones who took action
  and were determined.
• Now, the people of the future can enjoy our
  world.
• I can only hope that those people will be as
  careful as us. I hope that they will not think
  that water can last forever, because it cant. It
  will only continue to be as it is, if people
  continue to take the action we have.

• We CAN continue life on earth. It IS possible.
  All it takes is a little bit of work and
  determination.
• Now all I can do is pray that the futuristic
  generations will do what we have done.
