Our Mission Perfect Your View
  • Nanofilm Ltd., a private company formed in 1985
and located in Cleveland, Ohio, develops
    nano-coatings, and optical care accessories
    designed to perfect ones view.

3
Company Background
  • The largest supplier of ophthalmic and precision
optical accessories and coatings in the U.S.
    (Private Label Branded)
  • Customer in all aspects of the optical industry
    with a growing automotive business.
  • Carl Zeiss, an investor and board member.
  • Develops nano-coatings and films for consumer
use. Specifically, these products are designed
with properties features measured in nano
    units.

4
Core technology
  • 1. Nanofilms coatings use self-assembled thin
films (2-2000 nms) which provide enhanced
durability to plastics and all metal oxide
    surfaces. (e.g. glass, Al-oxide, etc.)
  • 2. The coatings are transparent, chemically
reactive to the surface, very durable, and are
    easy to apply.
  • Typical properties
  • Hydrophobic Hydrophilic surfaces,
  • Scratch Resistance,
  • Selective transmission or absorption of light.
  • Stain barrier, germ barrier and/or keep-clean
    surfaces.
  • 3. The hydrophobic coatings can be considered a
    3rd generation approach.

5
Hydrophobic coatings for glass
  • Contact angles between 100 to 105 degrees.
  • Extremely durable.
  • Easily applied
  • Superior non-stick properties, especially to
    organic soils.
  • Work continues on the 4th generation (Lotus
    effect).

Untreated
Hydrophobic
6
Historical review of commercial non-stick glass
coatings.
No bond to surface
7
2nd generation hydrophobic coatings (Randomly
distributed reaction sites with non-crystalline
morphology)
Less than 1 nanometer
Bonding sites
8
3rd generation nano-coatings designed for
durability and wear.
2-5 nanometers

  • Examples of nano-coatings for the consumer
  • Eyeglasses
  • Scopes Binoculars
  • Sport Optics, Sunglasses goggles
  • Mirrors (No-fog)
  • Precision Optics
  • Touch Screens Panel Displays
  • Non-stick automotive windshield coatings
  • Stain Germ barriers in the bathroom.

10
  • Finger prints, paint speckles, hair spray, ink
stains, magic marker, even super glue wont stick
    to PermaSEAL

11
Non-stick windshields bugs, tree-sap, mud,
rain, ice, etc.
Untreated
12
Fog can either be a nuisance or a danger.
  • .

13
Commercialization issues
  • Nano-branding the nano-premium
  • e.g. NanoDynamics golf balls versus
    Acticoat Ag based wound dressing.
  • Platform-based launches versus market-based
    launches.
  • B2B versus B2C
  • Do you solve a recognizable and understood
    problem?

14
However, ultimately its about.
  • The three immutable laws of marketing
  • Focus of the overt benefit.
  • Do one thing great.
  • 2. Provide a reason-to-believe.
  • Why are you special?
  • 3. Show a dramatic difference.
  • Prove it.
