Lecture Week 10 Processing seismic
reflections multicomponent data
2For isotropic conditions, multicomponent data for
a reflection with no dip would be active on Z
component only.
3For isotropic conditions, multicomponent data for
a reflection on a dip line with steep dip might
be equally active on the X and Z components.
4For isotropic conditions, multicomponent data for
a reflection on a dip line with slight dip would
be active on X Z components.
5For isotropic conditions, multicomponent data for
a reflection on an oblique line with steep dip
might be equally active on the X, Y and Z
components.
6Figure showing the use of the hodogram plot,
which shows particle motion of an arriving signal
event as a function of time.
7Each dot in the hodogram plot shows the amplitude
on component 1 plotted against the amplitude on
component 2 for each time sample of the signal.
8More discussion on the use of the hodogram.
9New axes after rotation to maximize energy on
component 1.
