  year old black girl.
• Another main character is Esther Hirsh.She is a
  six year old caring white girl.
• A secondary character is Sara Chickering is a
  forty-two year old farmer who takes care of
  Esther.
• Another secondary character is Merlin Van
  Tornhouthe is eighteen.He was afraid of the KKK.

• The setting is Vermont.

Summary

• In a small town in Vermont in 1924.The town gets
  into a lot of trouble when the KKK moves into
  town.Leanora Sutter,an African American and
  Esther Hirsh,a Jewish girl.They are in a lot of
  danger.The KKK shoots Esther's father,because he
  is letting Leanora stay with them.
• This book about how the KKK ruined a lot of
  people's lives,and it shows how things were in
  that time.It also makes you feel bad for the
  characters in the story.This story makes you
  think.

• I really didn't understand it very well, and it
  was confusing.
• I would not recommend it to others, because it
  was boring.
