Globalization in Education The Bologna Process
Probably the most radical move in Education in
history
  • 25 EU countries another 20 countries
surrounding 45 countries are adopting the
    Bologna Decree !!
  • An immensely influencing factor spreading from
    the EU.

old European Doctorate (3-5)
PhD(3)
old European Diplom (5-6)
Masters (2)
Bachelor (3)

9
The Bologna Process is augmenting change
  • Each and every University in these 45 nations are
    currently reviewing, enhancing and changing
    content.
  • But how is a student that graduates BSc in
Budapest going to do his/her MSc in Madrid and
    PhD in Stockholm ?
  • If you do not change, you are left behind.

10
Educational Transformation to a Knowledge based
Economy
  • Today, focussing on two major Programs
  • Intel Model Curricula Forum
  • Intel Technology Entrepreneurship

11
Intel Model Curricula Forum

Call to Action
  • International Community
  • Hungarian Higher Education Institutes need to
more actively participate in teams of
    international innovation.
  • They need to actively participate in research
    projects together with international industry.
  • The need to be in search of the best available
curricula and adapt and integrate into their own
lectures. The world is moving too fast to
    re-invent everything on your own.
  • They need to become more integrated and linked
with the international academic community. This
is happening, but not enough and not quickly
Examples are EU FP6 and FP7 Programs

14
Call to Action
  • Core competencies
  • Core competencies are concentrated in clusters
and there needs to be a high level of mobility
to go to there, gain expertise and come back to
the home society and build local clusters.
  • Global Communication
  • As shown in the Bologna Process or around the
globe Research example, there needs to be a
common language to be able to communicate.
  • English may not be the prettiest language in the
world, but it is by far the most common foreign
language and used to communicate globally.
  • Create English language MSc maybe even BSc
    courses
