CHARACTERISTICS OF A HURRICANE

• Large circular low pressure
  
  system rotating counter -
  clockwise
• 100 - 300 miles in diameter
• The eye is 10-20 miles diameter
• Storm surge - most destruction

Category I 74-95 mph winds 4-5 ft storm

• Must be authorized TAD
• Must actually evacuate and incur expenses

• Commanding General orders evacuation
• Applies whether live on or off base
• Local or state officials may order an evacuation
  BUT that does not authorize reimbursement!
• Can only be reimbursed if ordered by CG!
