Description of Project

• Project Goal
• To create an Alarm System, which detects activity
  using motion sensors and sounds an alarm.
• Hardware required
• Windows CE based lab computer
• Altera UP1 board
• Motion Detector Sensors
• Alarm Buzzer

Device Features

• Altera Board
• The sensors and buzzer will be connected to the
  Altera UP1 board input and output pins.
• A VHDL model which will be used to synthesize an
  ISA input/output device.
• Device driver functions
• Turn on buzzer
• Turn off buzzer
• Check Sensor X (where X is the sensor number)
• Reset Sensor X
• Reset All sensors

• Application - User Interface
• Alarm Modes
• Armed
• Silent Armed
• Off
• Time Stamped Event Logger
• Buttons
• Drop-down box for selecting the mode
• Button for a global reset
• Application will interface with hardware through
  the Windows CE device driver.

Ultrasonic and Infrared Sensor
We have currently acquired two sensors. The
ultrasonic sensor appears to work best so far.
We also testing a sound sensor.
