How and When AA Started

• It started in Dallas fort worth Jan. 1996
• When a girl named Amber Hageman was
• taken. Four days later her body was found
  nearby. Her mom and dad created the
• Amber alert. So if a child goes missing tell
• The police.

How it works

• According to the 2007 NCMEC Amber Alert Report
  published by the Department of Justice, an Amber
  Alert can only be issued IF
• The abduction is of a child age 17 or younger
• There is reasonable belief by law enforcement an
  abduction has occurred
• The law-enforcement agency believes the child is
  in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or
  death
• There is enough descriptive information about the
  victim and abduction for law enforcement to issue
  an AMBER Alert to assist in the recovery of the
  child
• The childs name and other critical data
  elements, including the Child Abduction flag,
  have been entered into the National Crime
  Information Center (NCIC) database.
