9ARTIICLES RELATED TO STRUCTURAL RACISM
10- The Community Action Network makes an appropriate
vehicle to design a response to structural racism
for the following reasons - CAAs are charged with considering hiring the
poor and minorities. - CAAS advocate for and monitor fair housing,
environmental justice and safe neighborhoods. - CAAs recognize that poverty comes in all colors.
- CAAs monitor communities for changes such as
emerging populations. - CAAs are governed by a tripartite Board which is
diverse economically, racially and socially. - CAAs look for new and creative solutions to old
intractable problems as a matter of design. - CAAs are change agents which are reflected in
design. - CAAs adhere to the principle of Maximum
Feasible Participation. - CAAs are advocates for equal opportunity.
- CAAs are committed to the principle of second
chance for the poor and minorities who may have
sketchy work experiences wherever possible. - These practices have withstood the test of time
and served to develop the agency and the people
who work there and communities and the people who
live there.
