Three Types of Ion Selective Electrodes
Solid State Membrane The membrane is an
insoluble crystal of the ion to be
determined. Example Fluoride, Silver/Sulfide,
Chlorine Gas Permeable Membrane A gas permeable
membrane separates the sample from the sensor,
commonly pH electrode. Example Ammonia, Carbon
Dioxide Neutral Carrier Membrane The membrane
contains an ion specific complexing
agent. Example Nitrate, Potassium
