emotionally healthy person?
  • Positive outlook on life
  • Effectively deal with challenges when they arise

    not always go the way they plan

  • Understand and cope with their feelings in a
    healthy way

  • Express their feelings through words and creative
    outlets

  • Your PERSONALITY
  • Is the unique combination of feelings, thoughts,
    and behaviors that make you different from
    everyone else.
  • Your SELF-CONCEPT
  • The view you have of yourself.
  • Both of these factors are especially influential
    during your teen years. Therefore, it is
    important to develop your personality and
    self-concept in positive and healthy ways.

    mistake, the teen learns from the mistake and
    moves on.

  • You develop your physical and mental abilities.
  • You discover the kinds of people you want to
    build relationships with and the kind of
    activities you enjoy.
  • You begin to form your own values and to
    understand the importance of standing behind
    them.

Self-Esteem
  • When you have high self-esteem, you feel
    appreciated and valued as a person.
  • You have a high degree of confidence in your
    abilities, and you meet new challenges with a
    can-do attitude.
  • When things go wrong, you are resilient.
  • RESILIENCE is the ability to bounce back from
    disappointment.
  • Important trait to develop.
  • Enables you to get back on your feet after a
    disappointment and keep moving forward.

Building Self-Esteem
  • Whether your self-esteem is high or low, it can
    always be improved upon, You can develop skills
    to build your self-esteem and feel good about
    yourself. These skills can increase your overall
    level of mental/emotional health. The skills you
    can practice include
  • Listing your strengths.
  • Remembering that everyone makes mistakes.
  • Motivating yourself.

Listing Your Strengths
  • Identify your talents and abilities. Everyone
    has special talents and skills. Make a list of
    them. For example, you may be a loyal friend or
    a good listener. You may also be a really good
    basketball player or writer.

Motivate Yourself
  • Identify your goals and what you need to do to
    reach them. Make a plan for getting from where
    you are to where you want to be. Achieving a
    goal you set for yourself will give you a sense
    of accomplishment.
