    responsibilities of a Supply Support Activity
    (SSA), IAW 40-61 (SB 8-75-11), DA PAM 710-2-2, AR
    710-2 and AR 735-5.

  • Given a list of organizations, select those
    organizations which function as formal Medical
    Supply Support Activities IAW AR 40-61.

    Support Activity (SSA) IAW DA PAM 710-2-2.

Stock Record Account
  • Purpose Holding account for stocks in the
    pipeline.
  • Selected items must be returned to an SRA before
    disposal from the Army inventory.
  • Not used to account for property issued to
    customer unit.
  • Used by TOE and TDA units with a supply mission
    to service supported units.

Organizations that Function as a Formal SRA
  • IMSA (ie. Post Hospital or Clinic MSO)
  • MEDLOG BN (Accountable Officer)
  • USAMMCE
  • Note DMSOs, MTOE Hospitals, ASMBs, MEDLOG DETs
    hold informal Stock Records, but do not hold a
    formal SRA.

Authority to Keep SRA
  • TDA or TOE is the authority document that
    authorizes a SRA as part of the mission.

Responsible Officer
  • Stock Record Officer is the accountable officer
    appointed under AR 735-5.
  • Accountability is transferred from an incoming
    SRO under AR 735-5.
  • The transfer requires a certification of transfer
    from the outgoing and incoming SRO.

  • DA PAM 710-2-2 Guidance on how to operate a
    SRA.
  • AR 735-5 Guidance on appointing an accountable
    officer.

Supply Support ActivityUnique Responsibilities
  • Operate an SRA in accordance with AR
    710-2.
  • Appoint an accountable officer IAW AR 735-5
  • Requisition material directly from the wholesale
    system.

Installation Medical Supply Activity (IMSA)
  • The IMSA is the SSA for medical materiel for
    designated installation and/or geographical
    region.
  • Medical SSA is maintained separately from the
    installations consolidated SSA.
  • IMSA is the Materiel Category (MATCAT C) manager
    for the installation stock fund which finances
    medical/dental materiel stocks.
