Cloned Cat, BelievableGlowing Cat,
StunningCloned Cats That Glow, Indescribable
  • Cloning is something complicated and could go
horribly wrong, but for these kittens things have
    gone horriblybright?
  • These kittens were cloned by South Korean
scientists on December 13, 2007. These exotic
cats only glow this reddish color (as seen below)
when they are under ultraviolet light.
  • Scientists have been able to clone cats for six
years and now they can make glowing kittens.
Scientists can actually make pigs and mice glow
    also.
  • I bet you are wondering why they want weird
    glowing animals. Scientists experiment with
cloning because the more they learn about cloning
the closer they can get to doing amazing things
with it. They need to know the risks of cloning
before they can use it on humans.

Possibilities of Cloning Medical Reasons
  • Scientists can use cloning for helpful things
    like curing diseases.
  • In theory doctors can clone someone who has a
disease and try to cure the clone before they
    operate on the actual human.
  • This is good because instead of having a 25
chance of living through surgery, you could have
    a 100 chance of living.
  • When doctors operate on a clone, the same
successful surgery can be performed on you .
  • This is also good because scientists can clone
someone with cancer and try to cure it. The
    possibilities are endless!

CC Has Kittens
  • CC stands for copy cat. She was the first cat
ever successfully cloned and she has had kittens.
  • CC had 3 kittens in September of 2006. This
mother cat had no problem giving birth, which
    means no test tubes.
  • Two of her offspring resemble her, but one took
after his father. The kittens father is a
    naturally-born tabby cat named Smokey.
  • CC was created in 2001 and is still doing fine,
    as well as her kittens.
  • LOOK AT THE CUTE KITTIES (bottom right hand

Texas AM
  • Texas AM has cloned more animals than any other
    institution.
  • At this college they have cloned cats, cattle,
    pigs, goats, horses, and deer.
  • Duane Kraemer, a scientist at Texas AM, and his
crew of animal scientists have made history 4
times in the past 5 years.
  • The knowledge we gain from cloning these animals
could greatly affect several areas of science and
medicine, said H. Richard Adams, dean of the
College of Veterinary Medicine at Texas AM.
With each successful cloned species, we learn
more about cloning procedures and how to make the
    process more efficient.

Build-A-Baby
  • Want to guarantee that your child is a girl with
hazel eyes and black hair? Well, the answer is
    biotechnology.
  • This procedure costs a good bit of money, but is
    it worth it?
  • In some ways yes. If you have hereditary diseases
in your family, you might want to look into
biotechnology. So people use this to ensure that
their child isnt born with any diseases.
  • Who knows maybe you are genetically engineered.

7
What Do You Think?
  • What do you think about using biotechnology to
    improve your child?
  • How far do you think we will get with cloning?
  • Do you think that we will be able to clone humans
    in this century?
  • Do you think you would want a clone? Why or why
    not?
  • Do you want a cloned pet?
  • What are some important things we could use
    cloning for?
