I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United
States of America. And to the republic for which
it stands, one nation, under God,

  • I pledge I promise
  • allegiance to be true or loyal
  • So the Pledge of Allegiance really says

I promise to be true and loyal to the flag of
the United States of America. And to the

  • red stands for the blood that was shed for
    our country
  • white stands for the purity of our country
