Title: Population in the Atlantic Regions

1
Population in the Atlantic Regions
  • Mariam Soliman, Emily Kocsis and Sara Jones

2
Population of the Provinces
  • As of 2001, the total population of the Atlantic
    Region is 2285729
  • As for each individually province, New Brunswick
    729498, P.E.I 135294, Nova Scotia 908007,
    Newfoundland and Labrador 512930
  • One of the most populated areas in the Atlantic
region arent always the capital of the province

3
Reasons for Population
  • One of the main industries in the Atlantic
provinces are the fishing, hunting, oil and gas
    and foresty
  • One of the main reasons that people move to the
Atlantic region is because of the industries
    there
  • Another reason could be that people enjoy the
scenery, seeing that is closer to water, and many
    people like the maritime climates

4
Immigrants
  • The main area that immigrants come from to the
Atlantic provinces is the UK. This is because the
maritime provinces have a large history with
Britain, the second largest is the French,
because they too have a long history with the
maritime provinces and people go there to be in
the country that was once where their ancestors
    where

5
Immigrants
  • Many other people come from Iran, Algeria,
Russia, Romania, UK and the rest of Europe
  • This is because these countries are closer to
them and the industries, population, and economy
is thriving in the Atlantic provinces

6
History
  • Atlantic Canada has always had a vast history of
people coming from England and France
  • This is why there is a large population of the
    French and British

7
Emigrants
  • Reasons why people might leave the Atlantic
provinces because they may not find a job
  • The only main industries there are fishing,
    hunting, shipping, trade etc.
  • Other reasons people might leave are the harsh
conditions in weather especially in Newfoundland
    and Labrador
