Title: Dissemination
1Dissemination Exploitation
2Outline
- Report from the conference
- The Open Day in Barcelona
- European Grid Industry Research Forum
- Testbed for Dissemination
- Live demonstrations
- Next events
- Web site
3The EDG conferences
- The EDG conference demonstrated to be an
effective occasion of information exchange - Globus, EU projects and national initiatives have
been present here - The Open Day is traditionally part of the
programme of the conference
4Open Day
- A report of the Open days is a deliverable of the
project (D11.6 moved from PM 26 to PM30) - 5th EDG Conference
- 6th EDG Conference
- Across Grid Conference
- Open days still remain good occasions for
discussion and Exchange of Information (DataGrid,
Politicians, Industry Other RD projects on Grid)
5Open day in Barcelona
- State of the art reports from EDG, DataTAG,
CrossGrid - Some fundamental technical advancements and
innovation announced - A survey of the EGEE proposal
- The point of view of politicians and funding
entities - At the European level
- At the Country and Local level (Spain)
- Industries from EDG
- CS and Datamat gave a sincere positive message
(with DataMat a little bit more prudent) - The European Grid Industry and Research Forum
- Now joint with CrossGrid
- The demonstrations
- In past experience they have been evaluated as
effective means of dissemination
6Open day
- Good material has been produced, collected
(slides, videos, speeches), will enrich web
sites, newsletter and will be input to D11.8 - Positive messages have been lunched and some new
interesting proposals of exploitation discussed
(basic, simple usage of DataGrids in real life) - Attendance of external people scarce (even if
this situation has been controlled)
7European Grid IRF
8Status of the EU GRID IRF
- Currently counts 256 subscribers from 34
countries - Participation and contributions from Forum
members start to be measurable (mails,
contributions to newsletter) - Is it a solid starting point to build up a base
of providers/users of Grid technologies?
9The Dissemination Testbed
The dissemination testbed is now up and running A
good example of collaboration within the project
(many thanks!) Used for DataGrid
tutorials Required for demonstrations Effort in
place to made it publicly available via web to
introduce newcomers to the world of grid
computing. The initial kernel of the
dissemination testbed is currently hosted at
CNR-CED (Italy) but new sites will soon be added.
