crosswalk. Teachers can click on any content and
all references pop-up. teachers are adding
    resources to website this summer
  • Warren Technical Center
  • Teachers have spent one year in development of
crosswalks in 20 CTE programs of Auto Tech
    Collision, Welding, Construction, Power
    Equipment, Masonry, International Business,
    Hospitality, Culinary, Cosmetology, Med Prep,
Graphic Design, Multi Media, Digital Video

XXII. ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY/HUMAN DISEASES
Demonstrates an understanding of normal structure and function of the body, including understanding of basic cell structure and function, chemical process of life, interrelationships of body systems. Biology Standard 3 Cells and Biochemistry-Students learn cellular and chemical foundations of life, how energy moves through living systems, and the matter cycles 1. cells are ultimately responsible for all life processes 2. most life processes can be explained at the chemical level 10th 19.0
Demonstrates an understanding of human growth and development. Biology Standard 3 The Human Body Interacting Organ Systems Students learn to explain human body functions in terms of interacting organ systems that maintain internal balance/health, and how they compare with other organisms. 10th 8.0
Understand the role of DNA structure, replication, and mutation in human inheritance. Biology Standard 3 Genetics Students learn the basic principles of how traits are expressed and passed down from generation to generation 1. DNA is the molecular basis of heredity, genetic variability, and continuity of a species 10th 6.0
Demonstrate an understanding of the role of genetics in human population and environmental issues, including an understanding of the advances made in DNA manipulation and how this creates bioethical debates in the medical community. Biology Standard 3 Genetics Students learn the basic principles of how traits are expressed and passed down from generation to generation 2. principles of genetics explain physical traits of organisms, patterns of inheritance, and genetic disorders 3. recent advances in technology have made DNA manipulation possible 10th 3.0

Developed Academic CTE Courses
  • Algebra Principles in Business
  • Year long course matching Algebra 1 content and
curriculum maps. Business teachers partners with
math to team teach or mentor each other. Written
by a math content team expert and revised with
business/math teachers. In operation since 2000.
    in 15 high schools.
  • Geometry Principles in Construction
  • Year long course with geometry credit written by
retired math teacher through Red Rocks Community
College Construction department. Funded by an NSF
grant. In operation 2 years and in 9 high schools
in Jeffco and technical center in Denver.
  • Eng 12 Communications Tech in Business
  • Year long senior level course written by 2 LArts
and 2 business teachers from separate schools.
Emphasis on writing and presentation skills with
business involvement in the interviewing process.
In operation prior to 2000, revised and now in 3
high schools. Will be the ACE/WES Eng 12 class
    next year in all schools.

Adding Academic Content to CTE
  • CADD Drafting
  • Started with crosswalk of national CADD standards
and district math performance expectations. Team
was high school CADD, district content expert,
community college academy teacher and retired
math specialist. Only using, senior level course
of CAD 202 to add advanced math modeling.
    Piloting next year.
  • Process Tech
  • Similar team make-up starting with identification
of modules of petroleum, carbonated beverages,
    medical and semiconductors cross-referencing with
    science performance expectations. Modules
identified by industries in Colorado. Optional
modules in food science, forensics waste water
management. Hope to have science credit by fall.

15
Middle College
  • Developed middle college (early) with Red Rocks
    Community College
  • Students selected by teacher Rec, GPA, ACT
  • Students apply and take Accuplacer
  • Students take English 121 and/or Math 121
  • Students continue CTE at Warren Tech
  • Parents pay or gain tuition assistance through
    free/reduced lunch status

16
Honors At-Risk
  • Honors status with increased academics in Project
Lead the Way and Teacher Cadet
  • Alternative Cooperative Education for at-risk and
special ed moving to CTE pathways of Med Prep,
    Business and Technical
  • Using district performance expectations to align
CTE academic, computer and career courses in
pathways. Worked with teams of teachers and
assistant principals. Accessed Tech Prep grant
    for training and resources.
