  • The Constitution can be amended or formally
    changed

Lets Make Amends
  • A Two-Thirds vote is needed in BOTH houses to
    propose to Amend the constitution and
    three-fourths are needed to ratify it OR
  • When a constitutional convention is called by
    Two-Thirds the states and approved by
    Three-Fourths of the states
  • No state can be denied suffrage in any
    constitutional convention

Article 6 Supremacy of the National Government
  • The Constitution, national laws, and treaties are
    the supreme and highest laws of the land. All
    governments must promise to support the
    constitution.

  • All Debts that existed before the constitution
    was written were carried over to the new
    Government
  • Everyone in the United States has to follow the
    laws of the constitution, and no state can create
    a law that goes against the United States
  • All Government officials are bound to the laws of
    the constitution and MUST carry the laws out
  • No Religious Test can be given to determine who
    gets a position in a public office

Article 7 Ratification
  • Nine of the Thirteen states had to Ratify, or
    approve, the constitution before it could go into
    effect

    to ratify the constitution though all 13 ratified
    it on September 17th, 1787
